As more and more people have been discovering the comic, we've gotten a lot of the same questions over and over. Naturally, it's tiring to answer these same questions, but newer people aren't always going to be privy to what has and what hasn't been answered. Thus! We have an FAQ:
When is the next update?
- As stated in the bio, the comic is ideally meant to update weekly (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and any changes to this will be posted in our public discord server (which you do not have to participate in, in order to receive said updates.) Sometimes, the comic goes on a sporadic non-schedule as Artsy cannot afford to spend as much time on it as they used to.
No but seriously, when is the next update? Please update!
- If you harass us about updates you will get blocked. We've had to block multiple people over this and we won't hesitate to continue doing this. It is rude and entitled to demand updates from fan artists who are producing work for free - no matter how politely you word it. We are sharing our work with you, but we're not obligated to continue doing so. This is the type of ask we probably get the most.
When is the next chapter?
- This type of ask is also rude. Considering we're often in the middle of a chapter when we get this kind of question, it tells us that you do not care about what's currently happening in the story and just want us to skip over to the next part. Regardless, we do not know how many chapters the comic will be, but it's going to be a slow burn, so we're not going to suddenly cap the story in the single-digit chapters. Additionally, because of hiatuses, we don't actually have a completely accurate estimation of when the next chapter will be out.
Will [Character] appear in the comic?
- if the character is a major character from Ducktales 2017 or Talespin, then there is a high likelihood of them making an appearance. Don't ask when it will happen, just be patient. We refuse to answer questions pertaining to this anymore because we've gotten said question for almost every character imaginable.
Where's Violet?
- Separating this one because this is the character we get asked about the most. Listen, we love Violet, we adore her, and we're not keeping her out of the comic thusfar out of any kind of ill will. As per Frank's words, she's already in college, so she just isn't in the same school as the rest of the kids. She will appear, we promise. Don't ask when it will happen, just be patient. If you want to see her design, we've already posted it, here.
Why aren't we seeing more of the Darkwing Duck universe?
- I honestly don't know why we get so many asks like this. This comic focuses on one of the main Ducktales 2017 characters and a Talespin OC. We're not barring DWD-specific characters from being in the comic but it's never going to focus on them that much. I don't know what you expect from us.
Can you get back to writing about the duck kids already?
- This comic is only half about Louie, the other half is about Ty. If you don't care about Ty, or any of the characters from Talespin, you're probably reading the wrong comic. Not all media has to cater to you, and if you don't like that, that's fine, you can just stop reading. But we aren't going to tailor this comic to anyone. It's also incredibly rude to tell us how to write the comic. If we're ever looking for community input, we'll ask for it.
Why did you put gay people in the comic/why did you make the comic gay/will Louie get with a girl instead?
- Both people making this comic are gay. We wanted to tell a gay story. I don't know what you expect from us. Not all media has to cater to you, and if you don't like that, that's fine, you can just stop reading. But we aren't going to tailor this comic to anyone.
How did [Character] react when they found out Louie was gay/does [Character] know Louie is gay?
- Everyone knows. He doesn't hide it. It's not a big deal.
What is [Character]'s orientation?
- For the purposes of this comic, Louie is gay, Ty is bi (and doesn't know it yet) and Webby and Lena are lesbians. Nothing else is cemented in this comic because we want to allow people the freedom to headcanon whatever. We both have our own personal headcanons but it's really not going to affect the comic, and we have literally no baring on the actual canon of Ducktales, so I don't know why it matters.
Can I translate and/or reupload the comic?
- You CAN translate the comic, as long as you do not claim to be an official translation/claim to be us or affiliated with us. You may reupload the comic ONLY if you are translating it.
Can I dub the comic?
- Go wild.
Why is the Discord server so quiet?
- The server is for Swindle - a fan comic that updates sporadically. It's not a Ducktales 2017 fan server, even though we'll sometimes talk about the series since this is a Ducktales 2017 fan comic. But due to limited subject matter and limited moderation, it's relatively quiet, and we prefer it that way, because there's literally only two mods and we wouldn't be able to handle a massively busy server. Sorry.
You guys do such a good job and I love this comic and it makes me happy!
- Thank youuuu! These asks literally make our days and we apologize for not answering every single one of them! Please know that every time we look at them, we smile.
